Workshops are held regularly each year on subjects related to court theatre. They are all open to the public and consist of general workshops conducted by the principal investigator and public workshops conducted by other researchers.

Speaker: Isobe Akira
Topic: “An Overview of the Specially Promoted Research Project and Future Plans”
After ascertaining details about the research project and discussing future plans, participants exchanged relevant materials and the latest information. The following day an international conference on a related subject was also held.

Professor Huang Shizhong of Sun Yat-sen University in China was invited to this workshop and gave a lecture.

19 July 2009 (Sunday) at Forest Hongo, Tokyo
Papers were presented by Chen Zhongqi, professor at The University of Shimane, and Yu Jeungah, teaching and research assistant at the Center for Northeast Asian Studies, Tohoku University.
4th General Workshop for Specially Promoted Research “A Study of the Culture of Court Theatre during the Qing Dynasty”

Papers were presented by Otsuka Hidetaka, professor at the School of Liberal Arts, Saitama University, and Isobe Akira, professor at the Center for Northeast Asian Studies, Tohoku University.

5 June 2010 (Saturday) at the Center for Northeast Asian Studies, Tohoku University, Sendai
Professors Shi Changyu and Shi Lei of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences were invited to the workshop and both gave lectures. Project members also reported on their research during the 2009 academic year.

In addition to regular workshops, public workshops may also be held freely by individual researchers. It is intended to hold such study meetings as occasion calls in a form that enables as many interested people as possible to participate.
